Allocation Reviews
A practical walkthrough of our flagship ETF allocation review, written for investors who want to know what the hours actually contain.
The shape of a review
Allocation work fails when it stays verbal. Our reviews are built so you leave with ranges on paper and rotation rules that survive a busy month. Below is the sequence we follow for nearly every engagement.
- Document gather — Broker statements, contribution plans, any ethical screens, and a short note on cash needs over the next two years.
- Holdings map — Each ETF is labelled by role: core growth, income, ballast, satellite. Overlap is measured by looking through to shared top holdings where data allows.
- Range setting — We propose bands (for example 35–45% global equity, 10–15% short duration bonds) rather than a brittle single percentage.
- Rotation criteria — Written triggers: valuation stretches, yield-curve shifts, or contribution events that justify a move inside the bands — and explicit non-triggers that keep you from trading noise.
- Review calendar — A next-check date, usually three to six months out, optionally booked as a Rotation Watch Session.
What you prepare
Bring the latest statements and a list of upcoming lump sums or withdrawals. If you have past notes from another adviser, bring those too; we will not discard useful work. You do not need a polished spreadsheet — a clear PDF is enough.
Where sessions happen
Most clients meet at Level 8, 42 Colmore Row, Birmingham B3 2BH. Video sessions use the same agenda and produce the same written pack. Phone-only reviews are not offered; we need a shared screen or table for the holdings map.
After the review
You keep the brokerage relationship. We do not place trades. If you want a later check against the criteria, book a Rotation Watch Session or return for a fresh ETF Allocation Review after a major life or market change.
Request a review date when you are ready to share a holdings outline.
