My ISA had six equity ETFs that looked diversified until we lined up the top ten holdings. Three of them were essentially the same bet. The allocation review cut that to four funds with clearer jobs. I was uneasy about selling the ‘global’ fund I liked, and they did not rush that point — we left a smaller sleeve until the next review date.

The Rotation Watch Session told me not to chase the latest sector move. That saved me a round of dealing costs I would have regretted by Friday.

Health check was blunt about cash sitting idle after a house sale. Not flattering, but accurate. We booked the full allocation review the following month.

Extended story: reclaiming an inherited ETF mix
Client: Adult children jointly managing a parent’s ISA after probate
Constraint: Two differing risk tolerances and a preference to avoid frequent trading
Work: Full ETF Allocation Review across three accounts
The inherited mix mixed accumulation and income share classes of similar regional funds. We mapped look-through exposure, agreed a joint ‘core’ that both siblings could accept, and carved a smaller satellite sleeve for the sibling who wanted a modest UK smaller-companies tilt. Rotation criteria were written so neither party could move the core without a scheduled review. Six months later they returned for a Rotation Watch Session; no change was made, which both treated as success.
